No.1 The Stone Barn is the open studio of silhouette papercut artist John Speight, and the home of Spirit of Colour jewellery.

John Speight
The shop has been designed so that visitors can talk to John as they watch him cut his silhouettes. Each of his pictures is individually cut from black paper using a scalpel.

The current range of approximately 150 designs includes local scenes, sports, animals, musical instruments, aircraft and more. The majority of pictures are priced at £15.00 unframed and £25.50 framed.

Lorna Speight
The Spirit of Colour range of semi-precious jewellery is made by Lorna only three miles away from Kirkharle on Wallington Estate. Lorna makes all the jewellery, including the hand-knotted necklaces, herself.

Lorna's interest in the traditional properties of the stones are reflected in her work, as the stones are grouped together for their harmonious qualities. An explanation of these qualities is given on the packaging so that the recipient of the jewellery is aware of this extra subtle dimension.

The Spirit of Colour Jewellery range includes bead earrings and necklaces, pewter earings, studs and semi-precious pendants. Prices range from earrings at £5.50 to pendants at £32.
